The Bar of Chocolate is my dream come true. As an avid hater of beer and wine and a lover of sickeningly sweet cocktails, when I go to a bar, I hope to find at least a few cocktails sans smokey mezcal or inventive egg white, and opt for a drink I can only describe as 'capri sun for people who can legally use Zipcar'. I've had a fair amount of their cocktails--the Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Key Lime Pie, and Limoncello martinis are all fantastic. Their desserts are delish as well--specifically their chocolate cake. The Bar of Chocolate has a small but cozy interior, akin to a below-ground French cafe with warm, low lighting and perfect nooks and crannies to tuck away in. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Located just off of the familiar cobblestones Wharf Street, The Bar of Chocolate is a can't miss in Old Port.

Delicious!!! Super cute place for drinks after dinner and very cozy vibe. We were seated as a group of 7 within 10 minutes which was convenient for a Friday night! The sweet martinis were really yummy. I'm glad I got to visit!!

We stopped in here Thursday night for dessert. We were seated quickly. It was around 10pm, so still early. There were a decent amount of people there. Not packed. Dimly lit. It's cute inside. Nice date place. We started with a Brandy Alexander Martini and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Martini. My boyfriend tried mine and sent his Brandy Alexander back for the Chocolate Salted Caramel haha. It's THAT delicious. BEST martini I've ever had!! 10/10. Highly recommend!!! The carrot cake is good. Not a fan of the frosting, so I'm happy there was not a lot of it. The carrot cake itself is moist and flavorful. 8/10 We will try the chocolate cake next time and we are definitely getting the Chocolate Salted Caramel Martini again!! Love the dark chocolate and cocoa powder on the rim of the martini glass. So good!! We will be back there. :)

Cute spot with cozy vibes. Our group loved the variety of espresso martini offerings, and their desserts were delicious. The crème brûlée was our favorite, though the pb chocolate cake was a close runner up!

The best dessert martinis I have ever had. The salted caramel is my absolute favorite. They are massive and decently priced. They also have desserts that are really amazing. Every martini I have tried has been great. They have a bar and a few tables. They also have a large outside area with cute fire pits. A great spot!

I do my due diligence before going to a restaurant or bar, so I was nervous given the mixed reviews here. Luckily, this was a great experience. Chocolate cake and a chocolate martini by the fire on a cool summer night? Yeah, that IS a scene from a movie. Ambiance outside is great. Inside is a different story... so let's focus on the ambiance I experienced. My partner and I got our own fire pit and the server was so nice despite clearly being understaffed. Grasshopper Martini: 10/10 Thai is one of the best grasshopper martinis I have ever had! It was so creamy, I don't know how they did it. It tasted like there was barely any alcohol and every sip was delightful. Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting: 8/10 It's not the best cake I've had but it did hit the spot. The cake itself could have been more moist and the proportion of cake to frosting could have been better too. Overall, this bar was exactly what I needed. A nice, chill vibe with dessert and a good drink. I would happily go back but know I'm not expecting the best dessert foods but good dessert drinks.

Holy mama, these are the best chocolate, espresso, flavorful martinis in New England. I sadly haven't tried the desserts as some of the martinis are a dessert within themselves. I've had a few martinis here - German chocolate (2nd place), creamy espresso (delicious but the other ones ya just don't see everyday), peanut butter (4) and the big kahuna, salted chocolate caramel (ONE). Salted choc. Caramel - the rim is coated in dark chocolate, with thick sea salt on choc - I could've drank 7 of these (but that wouldn't have been good for anyone). We went on a Friday night and the ambiance is awesome - great spot of an intimate date night as it is darker and a bit loud, but loud in a way that you can hear your martini mate still but feel like you're surrounded by a bunch of martini loving friends.
